Job summary

Orchard Manor School, managed by Special Partnership Trust, is seeking a Caretaker to manage and maintain our school site. You will ensure safety, security and cleanliness, perform routine repairs, support health and safety compliance and assist with inspections and records.

You will work with colleagues and contractors, act as a key holder, monitor access control and assist with emergency procedures to keep the site safe and well presented year-round.

Responsibilities

• Maintain H&S compliance and property inspection/maintenance records and complete risk assessment paperwork as required under the direction of the Premises Supervisor
• Act as joint key holder for the site, ensuring security at all times including alarm operation through daily site inspections
• Ensure keys and access control fobs are kept/issued in line with policy/procedure
• Report major defects in building, equipment and security systems and liaise with approved contractors/Head of School; monitor fire extinguishers and safety equipment
• Participate in evacuation processes and log in the Fire Folder as required
• Assist with collection and disposal of refuse and ensure buildings/grounds are free of litter and graffiti; keep paths safe in winter
• Undertake gardening duties
• Monitor cloakrooms stocked with hand soap, towels; undertake emergency cleaning as needed
• Support Premises Manager to monitor/manage use and maintenance of school vehicles/fleet
• Operate heating system; monitor swimming pool filtration, servicing and chemical balance
• Take deliveries of stores/materials and undertake porterage duties
• Be available for call-out on a rota basis
• Undertake routine maintenance, minor refurbishment and repairs of premises, fixtures and fittings
• Attend site meetings and be willing to train as a first aider if required
• Adhere to applicable rules, regulations, legislation and procedures (e.g. Health & Safety, GDPR/Data Protection)
• Maintain confidentiality of information acquired in the course of duties for the School
