Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a Science Technician for a busy secondary school in Manchester. You will prepare equipment and materials for practical lessons, maintain lab resources and ensure safe storage and handling of chemicals.

The role requires COSHH training, a science degree and solid organisational skills; you will work in collaboration with teachers and the school support team, with an ASAP start and a daily rate of £95-£110.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Science Technician or similar in a school/education setting.
• Bachelor's degree in a science subject with significant laboratory experience.
• COSHH training and knowledge of safe chemical handling.
• Strong understanding of laboratory health and safety.
• Experience across Biology, Chemistry and/or Physics.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a busy school Science Department.
• Proactive, reliable and professional approach; able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory equipment, chemicals, specimens and resources for practical Science lessons.
• Support teachers with practical activities across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
• Set up and clear away experiments and demonstrations.
• Maintain laboratories and resources to a high standard.
• Follow COSHH and health and safety procedures.
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering laboratory supplies.
• Ensure laboratories are clean and prepared before and after sessions.
• Record equipment, chemicals and safety information as required.
