Job summary

Cardiff Council is seeking a Support Officer for Road Safety & Training to plan, support and deliver Streetwise training to children across Cardiff. The role focuses on year 6 sessions in schools, with additional pedestrian training for year 2 pupils (and year 1 where possible).

It operates on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 20 hours per week, across 39 weeks per year. Applicants must be able to teach children, be IT-literate (Excel/Outlook/Word/PowerPoint), and show strong organisational

Qualifications

• Ability to teach and train children and young people (e.g., year 6, year 2).
• IT literate: proficient with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage schedules and prioritise tasks.
• Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.
• Willingness to undertake personal development and further training.

Responsibilities

• Plan, support and deliver Streetwise training to children in Cardiff.
• Deliver training to year 6 pupils during the school day; two staff per school.
• Plan and deliver child pedestrian training to year 2 pupils; year 1 where possible.
• Assist the Road Safety Team with other initiatives when needed.
