Cardiff Council is seeking a part-time professional to plan, support and deliver Streetwise and child pedestrian training to pupils in Cardiff in a school setting. Training focuses on Year 6 during school hours, with practical sessions near schools and classroom route planning.

The role supports 2 staff per school and a 20-hour week across 39 weeks, with Tuesday–Thursday sessions. DBS checks apply and Welsh/English applications welcomed.

Qualifications

• Ability to teach and train children and young people.
• IT literate, able to use Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.
• Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage work schedules and prioritise tasks.
• Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.
• Demonstrates a positive attitude to new challenges and a willingness to adapt quickly to change.
• Commitment to the Council’s strategies, policies, and Equal Opportunities Policy.
• Willingness to undertake personal development and further training.

Responsabilités

• Plan, support and deliver Streetwise training to children in Cardiff.
• The training is predominantly delivered to year 6 pupils during the school day.
• This is currently delivered by 2 members of staff working together at each school.
• The training involves an interactive presentation to a class of year 6 pupils within their school, followed by practical training in small groups on roads near to their school.
• The pupils then receive a route planning session in class.
• In addition to this, you will also plan, support and deliver child pedestrian training to children in Cardiff.
• The training is predominantly delivered to year 2 pupils during the school day.
• This is currently delivered by 2 members of staff working together at each school.
• The training involves an interactive presentation to a class of year 2 pupils within their school, followed by practical training in small groups on roads near to their school.
• Where possible, we also carry out a shorter interactive presentation with year 1 pupils.
• The post holder will also assist the Road Safety Team with other initiatives when needed.
