Job summary

Cardiff Council is seeking a part-time Training Officer to support learning, development and workforce planning across Adult Services in Cardiff. The role involves designing and delivering a range of learning opportunities—classroom, virtual, and blended—while ensuring mandatory training requirements are met and induction programmes are delivered effectively.

Qualifications

• Registration with Social Care Wales is required.
• Experience in a social services training and development environment.
• Experience designing, delivering and evaluating training programmes.
• Knowledge of social work, social care practice, legislation and professional standards.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work with partner organisations and stakeholders.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Good IT skills including virtual learning platforms and digital tools.

Responsibilities

• Identify training and development needs across Adult Services.
• Design, develop and deliver engaging learning programmes.
• Produce training materials for classroom, online and blended delivery.
• Contribute to the annual training plan development and implementation.
• Lead on induction programmes for new staff.
• Evaluate learning activities and measure impact on practice.
• Support statutory, mandatory and professional learning requirements.
• Commission external training providers when appropriate.
• Research and promote innovative workplace learning approaches.
• Collate and share research, legislation updates and best practice.
