Job summary

Derbyshire County Council is seeking a Derbyshire Highways Training Officer to develop and deliver high-quality Street Works and Highways training programmes. You will support trainees to achieve nationally recognised qualifications and contribute to site-based training across Derbyshire locations.

The role blends technical highway knowledge with teaching and assessment duties, with opportunities to participate in audits and course development while ensuring safety and compliance in all training

Qualifications

• Experience in training and assessment.
• Experience of working within a highways or engineering service environment.
• Occupational competence and sector specific expertise.
• Chapter 8 Traffic Management qualifications.
• CAT & Genny, experienced in how to work safely to avoid underground cables.
• Traffic Management Signage & Traffic Light Set Up.

Responsibilities

• Carry out professional and high-quality training in collaboration with the Highways Training Compliance and Coordination Lead.
• Deputise for the Highways Training Compliance and Coordination Lead as required.
• Support in managing training records and related duties.
• Keep high-quality, accurate records and support audits.
• Teach high-quality Street Works and Highways sessions (practical and theory).
• Ensure training is compliant with current legislation and Derbyshire Highways aims.
