Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a reliable School Caretaker for a busy secondary school in Wigan. The role involves maintaining safe and secure facilities, carrying out routine checks, and supporting daily site operations to ensure a welcoming environment for students and staff.

You will perform general maintenance, assist with deliveries and moving of furniture, and liaise with contractors as needed. Immediate start available for an experienced caretaker with a valid enhanced DBS.

Qualifications

• Experience in caretaking, maintenance, or facilities.
• Good practical and DIY skills.
• Strong understanding of health and safety procedures.
• Reliable, proactive and able to work independently.
• A valid enhanced DBS is essential.
• Available for immediate start.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance, repairs, and basic DIY across the school site
• Complete routine checks of buildings, grounds, facilities, and equipment
• Ensure the school site remains safe, secure, and well maintained
• Respond promptly to maintenance issues and report more complex repairs where required
• Support the opening and securing of the school site
• Assist with deliveries, moving furniture, setting up rooms, and general site duties
• Maintain outdoor areas and ensure grounds are kept tidy and presentable
• Monitor health and safety across the site and report any concerns
• Liaise with contractors and school staff where required
