Job summary

Swindon Academy is seeking a Premises Operative to join the Site Team. You will help maintain a safe, secure and welcoming environment, performing a range of site tasks, including maintenance, grounds work and event support.

The role requires practical maintenance experience, a full driving licence and a commitment to safeguarding within a busy school setting. You will work as part of a supportive team with opportunities for training.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance, facilities, or site management.
• Ability to perform minor plumbing, electrical, decorating, and repair tasks.
• Positive, flexible and proactive approach to work.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of health, safety, and security.
• Full driving licence with Category B1 entitlement.
• Enhanced DBS disclosure is required.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day operation, safety, and security of the Academy site.
• Carry out general maintenance, repairs, and handyman tasks.
• Assist with grounds maintenance, gardening, and litter management.
• Monitor heating, cooling, and building management systems.
• Conduct fire and building safety checks.
• Support events, lettings, and educational trips.
• Manage deliveries, furniture moves, and site logistics.
• Work with contractors and ensure health and safety compliance.
• Maintain Academy vehicles and support transport when required.
