Job summary

Swindon Academy is seeking a Premises Operative to join the Site Team. You will help maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors, carrying out a broad range of site, maintenance and security tasks.

Reporting to the Cluster Estates Manager, you will monitor building systems, support events and transport, manage deliveries and liaise with contractors, with a focus on health and safety and high standards of presentation across the Academy.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance, facilities, or site management.
• Able to perform minor plumbing, electrical, decorating, and repair tasks.
• Positive, proactive, and flexible approach to work.
• Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Committed to health, safety, and security standards.
• Proficient in Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willing to undertake training and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Support the day-to-day operation, safety, and security of the Academy site.
• Carry out general maintenance, repairs, and handyman tasks.
• Assist with grounds maintenance, gardening, and litter management.
• Monitor heating, cooling, and building management systems.
• Conduct fire and building safety checks.
• Support school events, lettings, and educational trips.
• Manage deliveries, furniture moves, and site logistics.
• Work with contractors and ensure health and safety compliance.
• Maintain Academy vehicles and support transport activities when required.
