Job summary

The Westgate School is seeking a Premises & Maintenance Operative to support day-to-day operation, maintenance and upkeep of the school buildings and grounds. This full-time role is 37 hours per week all year, with alternating shift patterns.

You will carry out general maintenance and repairs, respond to requests, maintain a safe environment, perform site checks and assist with security. Tours of the school are welcome and the post emphasizes safeguarding.

Qualifications

• Experience in general maintenance, caretaking, or a relevant trade.
• Ability to perform basic repairs (plumbing, decorating, minor electrical work).
• Proactive, organised, and able to prioritise tasks.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a wide range of general maintenance and repair tasks
• Respond to maintenance requests and support planned preventative maintenance
• Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and secure school environment
• Conduct routine checks of the site, identifying and reporting defects
• Support site security, including locking/unlocking where required
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and external contractors
