Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is supporting a welcoming Oxford primary school to appoint an experienced Office Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of the school office. This full-time, permanent role offers an ASAP start and a competitive school-scale salary.

You will be the first point of contact for parents and staff, manage MIS records (Arbor, SIMS, Bromcom), coordinate admissions, attendance and budget processes, and support GDPR/compliance and school events.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as Office Manager or senior administrator, ideally in a school.
  • Experience with Arbor, SIMS or Bromcom.
  • Strong IT skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day management of the school office and supervise administrative staff.
  • Manage pupil and staff records in the MIS.
  • Coordinate admissions, attendance and general administration.
  • Support finance processes, including PO and invoices.
  • Prepare communications for parents and staff.
  • Liaise with external agencies and suppliers.
  • Ensure GDPR and safeguarding compliance.
  • Support organisation of events and inspections.

A friendly and well-established primary school in Oxford is looking to appoint an experienced Office Manager to oversee the day-to‑day running of its busy school office.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised, approachable and proactive administrator who enjoys working in a varied role. As the first point of contact for parents, visitors and staff, you'll play a vital part in ensuring the school operates efficiently while providing a warm and professional service to the whole school community.

What you'll be doing
  • Leading the day‑to‑day management of the school office and supervising administrative staff.
  • Managing pupil and staff records using the school's Management Information System (MIS).
  • Coordinating admissions, attendance and general school administration.
  • Supporting finance processes, including purchase orders, invoices and budget administration.
  • Preparing correspondence, newsletters and communications for parents and staff.
  • Liaising with external agencies, suppliers and contractors.
  • Ensuring compliance with GDPR, safeguarding procedures and school policies.
  • Supporting the organisation of school events, meetings and inspections.
What we're looking for
  • Previous experience in an Office Manager or senior administrative role, ideally within a school.
  • Experience using school MIS software such as Arbor, SIMS, Bromcom or similar.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise a varied workload.
  • A friendly, professional approach with excellent communication skills.
  • The ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • A proactive attitude and a willingness to support the wider life of the school.
