Job summary

Milk Education, in partnership with a specialist school in Ashbourne, Derbyshire, is looking to appoint a reliable School Caretaker on a permanent basis. You will help keep the site safe, secure, well maintained and fully operational, creating a clean, safe environment for pupils, staff and visitors.

The role covers routine maintenance, health and safety checks, site opening/locking, liaising with contractors and supporting compliance records.

Qualifications

• Experience as caretaker, site supervisor, facilities or maintenance in a school setting.
• Good practical maintenance and DIY skills.
• Knowledge of health and safety legislation, COSHH and site compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Keep the school site safe, secure and compliant with regulations.
• Carry out routine maintenance and planned works on the site.
• Perform health and safety checks (fire alarms, emergency lighting, alarms).
• Open/lock the site, maintain security and high presentation levels.
• Respond to maintenance requests promptly and coordinate with contractors.
• Support compliance with risk assessments and site records.
