Job summary

Dalkia UK is hiring a Caretaker to join a school site in the Salford area (Eccles, M30). The role focuses on maintaining a safe, clean and well‑presented environment for pupils, staff and visitors.

Reporting to the Head Caretaker/Facilities Manager, you will perform general maintenance, upkeep, cleaning, and site safety duties across the site. The position is 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with shifts starting at 6am and ending around 2pm.

Qualifications

• Ability to prioritise tasks and manage workload effectively.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Practical experience or skills in joinery, plumbing or general maintenance.
• A proactive and flexible approach to supporting the needs of the school site.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance and minor repairs to internal/external areas.
• Support care, presentation and upkeep of the site.
• Carry out routine plant and equipment checks and log faults.
• Replace lighting tubes and lamps when required.
• Support site security, including fire and intruder panels and key-holder duties.
• Report unauthorised access, damage or security concerns.
• Ensure external areas are kept clean and tidy; assist with cleaning operations.
• Assist with set‑up/movement of materials across the site.
• Complete planned maintenance and site checks with documentation.
