Job summary

Milk Education is partnering with a specialist school in Nottingham to appoint a reliable School Caretaker on a permanent basis. The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, with a start date in September 2026, offering a salary of £28,000–£33,000.

You’ll help maintain a safe, secure and fully operational site for pupils, staff and visitors. The ideal candidate will have experience in caretaking, site supervision or facilities roles, strong DIY skills, and a solid understanding of health and safety

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a caretaker, site supervisor, facilities or maintenance role, ideally within a school or educational setting.
  • Good practical maintenance and DIY skills.
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation, COSHH and site compliance requirements.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise workloads and solve problems effectively.
  • Strong communication skills with a proactive and flexible approach.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and maintaining a safe learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the school site is safe, secure and compliant with health and safety, safeguarding and statutory regulations.
  • Carry out routine maintenance, repairs and planned preventative maintenance across the school site.
  • Complete regular health and safety checks, including fire alarms, emergency lighting, intruder alarms and other statutory testing.
  • Open and lock the school, maintain site security and ensure the buildings and grounds are presented to a high standard.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and site issues, prioritising safety and minimising disruption to learning.
  • Liaise with contractors and support the coordination of maintenance works and statutory inspections.
  • Support the Business Manager with health and safety responsibilities, including risk assessments, COSHH and compliance records.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, asset registers and site documentation.

Milk Education is working in partnership with a specialist school in Nottingham that is looking to appoint a reliable and proactive School Caretaker on a permanent basis.

Key Responsibilities
