Job summary

Ripple Education is hiring a School Catering Manager / Cook for Ashington and surrounding areas. Join a busy school kitchen and lead day-to-day operations to deliver nutritious meals to pupils, while ensuring high standards of hygiene and safety.

The role suits someone with school kitchen experience who can supervise staff, manage dietary requirements, and work Monday to Friday with immediate start. Training and safeguarding come first in our recruitment process.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a school kitchen or catering management role.
• Food Hygiene/Food Safety qualification.
• Knowledge of food hygiene, health and safety and allergen management.
• Experience planning and serving meals to set menus.
• Strong stock management and rotation.
• Good organisation and time-management.
• Ability to lead a catering team.
• Professional approach when working around children and staff.
• Understanding safeguarding responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing day-to-day running of the school kitchen.
• Preparing, cooking and serving nutritious meals.
• Managing dietary requirements and allergens.
• Maintaining food hygiene, cleanliness and safety.
• Organising food preparation and meal service efficiently.
• Supervising catering staff.
• Managing stock, orders, storage, labelling and rotation.
• Maintaining kitchen records and documentation.
• Ensuring equipment and areas are clean and safe.
• Working with school staff to provide a welcoming catering service.
• Following safeguarding procedures at all times.
