Job summary

Ripple Education is seeking a School Catering Manager / Cook in Berwick-Upon-Tweed to run a busy school kitchen, plan menus, and ensure nutritious meals for pupils.

You will oversee day-to-day operations, manage dietary requirements and allergens, and lead catering staff while maintaining food hygiene and safety. This role requires experience in school catering and a relevant Food Hygiene qualification.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a school kitchen or catering management role.
• A relevant Food Hygiene/Food Safety qualification.
• Strong understanding of food hygiene, health and safety, and allergen management.
• Experience preparing and serving meals to menus and standards.
• Ability to manage stock, storage and food rotation.
• Organise and lead catering staff with good organisation.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing day-to-day running of the school kitchen.
• Preparing, cooking and serving nutritious meals per menus.
• Managing dietary requirements and allergens safely.
• Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and safety.
• Organising food preparation and meal service efficiently.

• Managing stock, ordering, storage, labelling and rotation.
• Maintaining kitchen records and documentation.
• Ensuring equipment and work areas are clean and safe.
• Collaborating with school staff to provide efficient catering.
• Following safeguarding procedures at all times.
