Job summary

Sodexo in Hereford is seeking a Kitchen Assistant for St Mary's High School, Lugwardine, to oversee food and beverage operations and support the Cook Manager. You will prepare, cook, present and serve meals to high standards for 100–1300 students and help manage kitchen finances.

You'll adhere to Food Safety, HACCP and Health & Safety regulations, train catering staff, ensure counters and dishes are presented well, and maintain cleanliness under pressure in a busy school kitchen.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year hands-on cooking experience with proof of training on Food Hygiene and Health & Safety.
• Experience cooking large-scale meals for hundreds to over a thousand students.
• Ability to follow recipes accurately and work with fresh ingredients.
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures and COSHH/HACCP compliance.
• Professional conduct, ability to lead by example, and a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, present and serve meals to high standards for breakfast, lunch and events.
• Assist Cook Manager with overseeing kitchen operations and finances.
• Ensure counters and food presentation meet company standards.
• Train catering staff in hygiene, safety and cooking practices.
• Maintain cleanliness and handle waste in line with procedures.
• Work under pressure to meet deadlines in a busy school kitchen.
