Job summary

Sodexo is hiring a Cook at St Thomas More Catholic School & Sixth Form College in Nuneaton. You will assist the Cook Manager in managing kitchen operations, food presentation, and service quality while upholding safety standards.

The role emphasizes high standards, working with fresh ingredients and large-scale catering for students, with a 39-week term-time pattern and a competitive hourly rate. You will enjoy a supportive team and full training.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year hands-on cooking experience; training on Food Hygiene and Health & Safety will be provided.
• Experience cooking for large groups (100–1300 students) in a school or similar setting.
• Ability to follow recipes and work with fresh produce.
• Awareness of health and safety procedures and food safety standards.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a busy kitchen.
• Professional demeanor with a positive attitude and leadership by example.
• Basic food handling certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, present, and serve food to company standards for breakfast, lunch, and hospitality.
• Adhere to Food Safety, Health & Safety, Allergen, COSHH and HACCP regulations.
• Carry out craft/skills training for catering staff.
• Ensure counters and food presentation meet company standards.
• Portion dishes according to business requirements.
• Complete daily/weekly cleaning of food preparation and storage areas and waste removal.
• Deliver high standards of customer service and upkeep of cleanliness.
