Job summary

Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council’s Catering Services at Ysgol Cambrian is hiring an Assistant Cook for term-time, part-time hours (20 per week). Working hours are typically 9am–2pm, Monday to Friday, with duties including food preparation, cooking and serving meals and allergen management.

The role supports the Cook in Charge in a school kitchen environment, promoting food safety and hygiene while assisting with stock control and paperwork for the digital food safety system.

Qualifications

• Experience cooking for large volumes.
• Good communication skills and a positive, action-focused attitude.
• Enthusiastic with a logical and organized approach to planning; able to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Cook in Charge with daily preparation, cooking and serving of meals; be aware of pupils with allergens and the allergen procedure.
• Assist with kitchen operations in line with food safety, health and safety policies.
• Complete relevant paperwork for digital food safety management.
• Maintain cleanliness and high hygiene standards in all areas.
• Assist with stock control and ordering of cleaning supplies.
• Cover for the Cook in Charge during sickness or absence.
