Job summary

St Bede's and St Joseph's Catholic College is seeking an IT Technician to provide day-to-day IT and AV support across two College sites and feeder primary schools. You will handle service desk tickets, hardware and software issues, and manage devices via Intune and Microsoft Entra.

The role covers desktops, laptops, networks, AV equipment, livestreaming and access-control systems while maintaining security practices and asset records.

Qualifications

• Practical experience diagnosing IT hardware, software and connectivity problems.
• Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra and device-management systems such as Intune.
• Experience supporting desktops, laptops, printers, networks and wireless equipment.
• Strong problem-solving and organisational skills.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and follow service-desk procedures.
• Understanding of information security and data protection.

Responsibilities

• Managing and updating support tickets through the Halo ITSM service desk.
• Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, account and connectivity issues.
• Escalating unresolved or more complex problems to the IT Services Delivery Manager.
• Producing clear technical documentation and standard operating procedures.
• Installing, configuring, maintaining and repairing desktops, laptops, tablets, printers and peripherals.
• Deploying applications and device policies through Microsoft Intune and other device-management systems.
• Administering Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra accounts, groups and licences.
• Supporting network equipment, switches, cabling and wireless access points.
• Maintaining an accurate asset register and completing annual stock checks.
• Securely wiping, disposing of and recording equipment at end of life.
• Preparing rooms, devices and systems for examinations, assessments and events.
• Applying security updates and reporting suspected security incidents promptly.
• Installing and troubleshooting AV equipment in classrooms, halls and public areas.
• Managing the IT and AV equipment booking system.
• Setting up sound, projection and livestreaming for events.
• Supporting CCTV, telephone and door-access systems.
• Programming and cancelling access cards and fobs with records.
• Retrieving CCTV footage per data-protection requirements.
