Job summary

St Bede's and St Joseph's Catholic College is seeking an IT Technician to provide day-to-day IT and AV support across two college sites and feeder primary schools. You will troubleshoot hardware, software and connectivity, manage user accounts in Microsoft 365 and Entra, and maintain device policies with Intune.

Reporting to the IT Services Delivery Manager, you will handle service desk tickets, install and repair desktops, laptops and peripherals, support AV equipment for events, and ensure

Qualifications

• Experience diagnosing IT hardware, software and connectivity issues.
• Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra and device-management systems such as Intune.
• Experience supporting desktops, laptops, printers, networks and wireless equipment.
• Strong problem-solving and organisational skills.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and follow service-desk procedures.
• Willingness to work across multiple College and primary-school sites.
• Comfort with occasional events outside normal College hours.

Responsibilities

• Manage and update support tickets via Halo ITSM.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, account and connectivity issues.
• Escalate unresolved or more complex problems to the IT Services Delivery Manager.
• Produce clear technical documentation and standard operating procedures.
• Installing, configuring, maintaining and repairing desktops, laptops, tablets, printers and peripherals.
• Deploying applications and device policies through Microsoft Intune and other device-management systems.
• Administering Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra accounts, groups and licences.
• Supporting network equipment, switches, cabling and wireless access points.
• Maintaining an accurate asset register and completing annual stock checks.
• Securely wiping, disposing of and recording equipment at the end of its working life.
• Preparing rooms, devices and systems for examinations, assessments and scheduled events.
• Applying security updates and reporting suspected security incidents promptly.
• Installing and troubleshooting AV equipment in classrooms, halls and public areas.
• Managing the IT and AV equipment booking system.
• Setting up and operating sound, projection and livestreaming for events such as Mass, open evenings, prize giving and performances.
• Supporting the College s CCTV, telephone and door-access systems.
• Programming and cancelling access cards and fobs while maintaining accurate records.
• Retrieving CCTV footage only through the approved process and in accordance with data-protection requirements.
