School IT & AV Technician – Hands-on Support & Livestreams

Job summary

Ad Talent is recruiting an IT Technician for schools in Bradford. The role provides day-to-day IT and AV support across two college sites and feeder primaries, with duties spanning service desk, hardware, software, networks and security.

You will install and maintain desktops, laptops, tablets, printers and peripherals, manage Microsoft 365 and Entra accounts, and support AV systems for events and assessments. 37 hours weekly, permanent, salary £27,274–£29,070.

Qualifications

• Practical experience diagnosing and resolving IT hardware, software and connectivity problems.
• Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra; experience with device-management systems.
• Experience supporting desktops, laptops, printers, networks and wireless equipment.
• Strong problem-solving and organisational skills.
• Helpful and patient approach when supporting users with different levels of technical knowledge.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and follow service-desk procedures.
• Understanding of information security, confidentiality and data protection.
• Flexibility to work across different College and primary-school sites.

Responsibilities

• Managing and updating support tickets through the Halo ITSM service desk.
• Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, account and connectivity issues.
• Escalating unresolved or more complex problems to the IT Services Delivery Manager.
• Producing clear technical documentation and standard operating procedures.
• Installing, configuring, maintaining and repairing desktops, laptops, tablets, printers and peripherals.
• Deploying applications and device policies through Microsoft Intune and other device-management systems.
• Administering Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra accounts, groups and licences.
• Supporting network equipment, switches, cabling and wireless access points.
• Maintaining an accurate asset register and completing annual stock checks.
• Securely wiping, disposing of and recording equipment at the end of its working life.
• Preparing rooms, devices and systems for examinations, assessments and scheduled events.
• Applying security updates and reporting suspected security incidents promptly.
• Installing and troubleshooting AV equipment in classrooms, halls and public areas.
• Managing the IT and AV equipment booking system.
• Setting up and operating sound, projection and livestreaming for events.
