Job summary

The Littlehampton Academy seeks a dedicated supervisor to support classroom learning and pupil wellbeing. You will supervise pupils, help maintain a constructive environment, and implement the academy’s procedures.

You will assist with safeguarding, take responsibility for health and safety, and when not deployed to mainstream lessons, provide administrative support and detentions supervision after school as required.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising pupils in a classroom or similar setting.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and health and safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Supervision of pupils in undertaking the work that has been set by a teacher.
• Managing the behaviour of pupils whilst they are undertaking this work to ensure a constructive environment.
• Responding to any questions from pupils about process and procedures.
• Dealing with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the academy’s policies and procedures, in particular the academy behaviour management policy.
• Taking responsibility for the safeguarding and health and safety of pupils whilst in the class.
• Collecting completed work from pupils and passing it to the appropriate teacher.
• Reporting, as appropriate using the academy’s agreed referral procedures, on the behaviour of pupils during the class and on any problems arising.
• When not deployed to supervise mainstream lessons, cover supervisors may be deployed elsewhere in support of colleagues, including the provision of admin support.
• After-school duties may include supervising detentions and supervision of pupils leaving the site.
