Job summary

Keyham Lodge School invites applications for a Cover Supervisor to support learning in classrooms and run learning interventions. You will work under a teacher’s direction to create a positive educational environment and help pupils reach their developmental goals.

The role requires safeguarding awareness, excellent communication, and a flexible approach to the school day. The position is permanent and based on term-time hours with a set weekly pattern.

Qualifications

• NVQ 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent, or able to meet STL Level 3 NOS.
• Level 2 qualifications in maths/numeracy and English/literacy, or equivalent.
• Experience of working with students in a formal setting.
• Knowledge of child protection and health and safety procedures.
• Ability and willingness to undertake professional development.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to effectively manage pupil behaviour in accordance with school policy.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a class in the absence of a teacher and ensure students are engaged in the set learning activity.
• Liaise with teachers and relevant staff regarding work set for a class.
• Provide feedback to the teacher on pupil engagement and any issues that arose during lessons.
• Help prepare, monitor and maintain a safe and secure learning environment.
• Support the maintenance of an activity bank to keep pupils engaged if they finish work early.
