Marchant Recruitment is seeking a reliable School Cleaner for a well-established school in Eastbourne, East Sussex. You will perform scheduled cleaning duties across classrooms, offices, washrooms and communal areas, following established procedures and safety guidelines.

The role suits someone with attention to detail and a strong work ethic, able to work independently or as part of a team, with potential early morning or after-school shifts depending on the timetable.

Qualifications

• Previous cleaning experience is desirable.
• School-based cleaning experience would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of routine cleaning methods, hygiene standards and safe chemical handling.
• Good attention to detail and the ability to follow a cleaning schedule.
• Reliable, punctual and able to complete tasks consistently.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Understanding of safeguarding and school security procedures.
• Willingness to undertake pre-employment checks and training.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Clean classrooms, offices, corridors, staff rooms and other allocated areas.
• Sweep, vacuum and mop floors using appropriate equipment and cleaning methods.
• Clean and sanitise washrooms, toilets, sinks and frequently touched surfaces.
• Empty bins and dispose of waste in accordance with school procedures.
• Replenish soap, paper towels, toilet paper and other cleaning supplies.
• Ensure cleaning equipment is used correctly, cleaned after use and stored securely.
• Follow product instructions and safety procedures when handling cleaning chemicals.
• Maintain appropriate hygiene standards throughout the premises.
• Report spills, damaged fixtures, maintenance concerns or potential hazards promptly.
• Follow cleaning schedules and complete allocated tasks within the required timeframe.
• Respect confidential information and avoid disturbing staff, pupils or school activities.
• Work cooperatively with caretakers, premises staff and other cleaning colleagues.
• Follow safeguarding, site security and access procedures at all times.
