Job summary

Leigh on Mendip School is looking for a reliable and energetic cleaner to join our supportive team. You will help maintain a high standard of cleanliness across the school premises, ensuring a hygienic and welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors.

Responsibilities include cleaning designated areas, safely handling chemicals, emptying waste, replenishing consumables, and reporting maintenance concerns.

Qualifications

• Carrying out cleaning duties across designated areas (vacuuming, mopping, dusting and polishing furniture).
• Safely handling cleaning chemicals and materials per procedures.
• Emptying waste bins and transporting waste to designated compounds.

Responsibilities

• Replenish hygiene consumables (soap, toilet paper, hand towels).
• Report maintenance or safety concerns to the line manager.
• Keep records of supplies and inform office when additional supplies are required.

• Carry out scheduled cleaning duties across designated areas (vacuuming, mopping, dusting and polishing furniture and fittings).
• Safely handle cleaning chemicals and materials in line with procedures.
• Empty waste bins and safely transport waste to designated compounds.
• Replenish essential hygiene consumables (soap, toilet paper, hand towels).
• Report any maintenance or safety concerns to the line manager.
• Record keeping of supplies. Informing office when additional supplies are required.
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a busy, friendly team.
• Physical capability to undertake active work (bending, lifting, stretching and operating machinery).
• A reliable, adaptable and approachable attitude.
• Willingness to undertake relevant training and use basic electronic devices for communication.
• Commitment to safeguarding child welfare and adhering to Health & Safety and Equal Opportunities policies.

Desirable:

• Previous experience in a professional cleaning or school setting.
