Job summary

Parkside Primary School in the West Midlands is seeking a proactive Caretaker to join our team. This part-time, full-year role covers 25 hours per week with term-time hours of 6:45am to 11:45am, plus potential holiday flex. Salary is based on 20 hours at £17,840–£18,415, with full-time equivalent £26,403–£27,254.

The role focuses on safe, secure premises management and site supervision. As Caretaker, you will lead premises management, supervise cleaning staff, conduct health and safety checks,

Qualifications

• Has experience of caretaking, site supervision, facilities management or building maintenance.
• Shows a positive attitude and reliability with a flexible, can-do approach to school life.
• Has experience supervising or managing staff.
• Can carry out a range of practical repair and maintenance tasks.
• Is organized, reliable and able to prioritise workloads.
• Is confident using technology, including tablet-based software systems.
• Has a strong understanding of health and safety responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Opening the school premises and ensuring secure premises in the evening via the Keyholder.
• Manage site security, alarms and respond to out-of-hours call outs as required.
• Carry out statutory premises checks and maintain accurate compliance records.
• Use tablet-based software to monitor health and safety requirements.
• Supervise and support janitor and cleaning staff, ensuring adequate cover.
• Undertake routine maintenance, repairs and decorating tasks.
• Monitor contractors on site and maintain grounds and outdoor areas.
• Promote school health and safety procedures and contribute to a safe environment.
