Job summary

GSL Education is seeking a reliable School Caretaker in Spalding to maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming school environment. The role involves locking/unlocking premises, ensuring site safety, and supporting events and routine maintenance.

The ideal candidate will have DIY skills, health and safety awareness, and the ability to work independently while communicating effectively with staff and contractors. DBS checks and safeguarding knowledge are required.

Qualifications

• The ideal candidate will have practical DIY skills and an understanding of health and safety procedures.
• Ability to work independently and use initiative, with strong communication across staff and contractors.
• Experience in school or education settings is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Open and close the school premises as required.
• Ensure the site is safe, secure, and well maintained.
• Carry out basic maintenance and general DIY tasks.
• Monitor the condition of buildings, facilities, and grounds.
• Report maintenance or health and safety concerns.
• Set up rooms and facilities for school activities and events.
• Manage deliveries and assist contractors when required.
