GSL Education is seeking a reliable School Caretaker in Spalding to maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming school environment. The role involves locking/unlocking premises, ensuring site safety, and supporting events and routine maintenance.

The ideal candidate will have DIY skills, health and safety awareness, and the ability to work independently while communicating effectively with staff and contractors. DBS checks and safeguarding knowledge are required.

Salary: £26,000 - £28,000 per annum, depending on experience

GSL Education is seeking a reliable and hardworking Caretaker to join a school in Spalding. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and well-presented environment and enjoys being part of a busy school community.

As a School Caretaker, you will play an important role in the day-to-day running of the site, helping to ensure the school premises and grounds are safe, secure, and well maintained for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Open and close the school premises as required.


• Ensure the school site is safe, secure, and well maintained.


• Carry out basic maintenance, repairs, and general DIY tasks.


• Monitor the condition of the school buildings, facilities, and grounds.


• Report any maintenance or health and safety concerns.


• Support with setting up rooms and facilities for school activities and events.


• Manage deliveries and assist contractors when required.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Previous experience as a Caretaker, Site Assistant, Facilities Assistant, or in a similar maintenance role.


• Good practical and basic DIY skills.


• An understanding of health and safety procedures.


• The ability to work independently and use their initiative.


• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with staff, students, and external contractors.


• Previous experience working in a school or education setting would be desirable but is not essential.
