Job summary

Academics is actively recruiting a School Caretaker for a secondary school in Doncaster on a temporary Autumn Term basis. The role supports daily upkeep, maintenance and security, ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for pupils and staff.

You will join a small site team, performing repairs, basic plumbing and carpentry, and contribute to fire safety checks and site cleanliness. Strong teamwork and reliability are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous caretaking, maintenance or site management experience.
• Experience with minor repairs and general maintenance.
• Knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, painting and decorating.
• Understanding of fire safety procedures.
• GCSEs in Maths and English.
• Ability to work as part of a small team.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Enhanced DBS certificate, or willingness to obtain one.
• Availability to work during school holidays.

Responsibilities

• Carry out minor repairs and general maintenance.
• Basic plumbing and carpentry work.
• Painting and decorating as required.
• Support fire safety duties and site checks.
• Maintain outdoor areas and litter picking.
• Assist with security and upkeep of the school premises.
• Work collaboratively with the site team.
