Job summary

GSL Education in Spalding, Lincolnshire, is seeking a reliable School Caretaker to join a busy site. You will help keep the premises safe, clean and well presented for students, staff and visitors, opening and closing the site as required.

The ideal candidate will have practical DIY skills, a good understanding of health and safety, and the ability to work independently with initiative. Previous experience in schools is desirable, and DBS checks will be required.

• Good practical and basic DIY skills.

Responsibilities

• Open and close the school premises as required.

• Monitor condition of buildings, facilities, and grounds.
• Report maintenance or health and safety concerns.
• Support with setting up rooms and facilities for activities and events.

As a School Caretaker, you will play an important role in the day-to-day running of the site, helping to ensure the school premises and grounds are safe, secure, and well maintained for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Previous experience as a Caretaker, Site Assistant, Facilities Assistant, or in a similar maintenance role.
• Good practical and basic DIY skills.
• An understanding of health and safety procedures.
• The ability to work independently and use their initiative.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with staff, students, and external contractors.
• Previous experience working in a school or education setting would be desirable but is not essential.
