Job summary

Academics Ltd is seeking a reliable Site Assistant for a permanent role at a primary school in Chatham, Kent. The position offers 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a salary determined by experience. Start date is September 2026.

The role involves maintaining a safe, clean and well‑kept school environment and supporting events and routines. The ideal candidate has prior experience as a Site Assistant or Caretaker, strong DIY skills, and a good understanding of health and safety.

Qualifications

Experience as a Site Assistant or similar role is desirable.
Good practical maintenance, repair and DIY skills.
Sound understanding of health and safety procedures.
Ability to work independently and manage workloads.
Flexible, hands-on and reliable approach to work.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

Opening and securing the school premises each day.
Carrying out general maintenance, repairs and basic DIY tasks.
Completing routine health and safety checks across the site.
Ensuring buildings and grounds are safe, clean and well-maintained.
Setting up classrooms, halls and outdoor areas for events and activities.
Monitoring site security and reporting maintenance or health and safety concerns.
Assisting with deliveries, contractor access and site logistics.
Supporting day-to-day upkeep of facilities, equipment and grounds.
