Job summary

Academics Ltd is recruiting a reliable Site Assistant for a Gravesend primary school on a fixed-term rolling contract starting September 2026, 25 hours per week.

The role covers opening premises, routine maintenance, health and safety checks, setting up rooms for events, and supporting deliveries and site access. Enhanced DBS required or willing to obtain. You will join a welcoming school community with ongoing support from Academics Ltd.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Site Assistant, School Caretaker, or similar role.
• Good practical maintenance, repairs, and DIY skills.
• Solid understanding of health and safety procedures.
• Ability to work independently and manage workloads.
• Flexible, hands-on and reliable approach to work.
• Enhanced DBS via Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Open and lock the school premises each day.
• Carry out routine maintenance, repairs, and basic DIY tasks.
• Complete health and safety inspections across the site.
• Keep buildings and grounds clean, safe and well-maintained.
• Set up classrooms, halls and outdoor areas for events.
• Monitor site security and report concerns.
• Assist with deliveries, contractor access, and site logistics.
• Support day-to-day upkeep of facilities and equipment.
