Job summary

Academics Ltd is recruiting a reliable Site Assistant for a permanent role in Chatham, starting September 2026. The role supports a welcoming primary school by maintaining buildings, grounds and equipment, and by ensuring safe, secure and clean environments for pupils and staff.

You will carry out routine maintenance, health and safety checks, assist with deliveries and contractor access, and help set up classrooms and event spaces.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Site Assistant, School Caretaker, Site Manager, Facilities Assistant, Maintenance Operative, or in a similar role.
• Good practical maintenance, repair, and DIY skills.
• A sound understanding of health and safety procedures.
• The ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
• A flexible, hands-on, and reliable approach to work.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Opening and securing the school premises each day.
• Carrying out general maintenance, repairs, and basic DIY tasks.
• Completing routine health and safety checks across the school site.
• Ensuring school buildings and grounds are safe, clean, and well-maintained.
• Setting up classrooms, halls, and outdoor areas for school events and activities.
• Monitoring site security and reporting any maintenance or health and safety concerns.
• Assisting with deliveries, contractor access, and general site logistics.
• Supporting the day-to-day upkeep of school facilities, equipment, and grounds.
