Job summary

Academics Ltd is recruiting a reliable caretaker to join a welcoming primary school in Sittingbourne. You will be responsible for opening and securing the premises, maintaining safe and clean environments, and supporting events across classrooms and outdoor areas.

The role is permanent and full-time, with Monday to Friday hours, and a competitive salary dependent on experience. An Enhanced DBS is preferred. Training and ongoing support will be provided by Academics Ltd.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Caretaker, Site Assistant, or facilities professional looking for a permanent, full-time position within a thriving school community.

As the Caretaker, you will play an important role in ensuring the school premises remain safe, secure, clean, and well-maintained for pupils, staff, and visitors. This is a varied role where no two days are the same.

Key Responsibilities

• Opening and securing the school premises each day.


• Carrying out general maintenance, repairs, and basic DIY tasks.


• Completing routine health and safety checks across the school site.


• Ensuring school buildings and grounds are safe, clean, and well-maintained.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Previous experience as a Caretaker, Site Assistant, Site Manager, Facilities Assistant, Maintenance Operative, or in a similar role.


• Good practical maintenance, repair, and DIY skills.


• A sound understanding of health and safety procedures.


• The ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.


• A flexible, hands-on, and reliable approach to work.


• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
