Academics Ltd is recruiting a reliable Caretaker for a primary school in Canterbury. This permanent, full-time role starts September 2026 and offers a competitive salary based on experience. Monday to Friday, you will maintain premises, assist with events, and ensure safety and security.

Applicants should have prior caretaker/site assistant experience, strong DIY skills, and a good understanding of health and safety. DBS Update Service preferred or willingness to obtain one.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a caretaker or similar facilities role.
• Good practical maintenance, repair and DIY skills.
• Understanding of health and safety procedures.
• Ability to work independently and manage workloads.
• Flexible, hands-on and reliable approach.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Open and secure the school premises each day.
• Carry out routine maintenance, repairs and basic DIY tasks.
• Complete health and safety checks across the site.
• Keep buildings and grounds safe, clean and well-maintained.
• Set up classrooms, halls and outdoor areas for events.
• Monitor site security and report concerns.
• Assist with deliveries, contractor access and site logistics.
• Support day-to-day upkeep of facilities and grounds.
