Job summary

Mitie is recruiting a School Caretaker at Juniper Green Primary School in Edinburgh to deliver high service standards and adhere to cleaning schedules. The role is full-time with 37.5 hours and multiple shift patterns, ensuring the school environment is safe and welcoming for students and staff.

Successful candidates will undertake required training, maintain equipment, and support building security and room setups.

Qualifications

• Previous caretaking experience (preferred but not essential).
• Reliable, hardworking, and professional attitude.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Open, honest, self-driven, and determined.
• Commitment to safeguarding and confidentiality, with willingness to undergo an enhanced DBs check.

Responsibilities

• Undertake all required training and follow Mitie's Quality, Safety, Health and Environmental policies.
• Maintain equipment in clean, safe working order and understand all cleaning materials and chemicals used.
• Ensure proper maintenance, cleaning, security, and safety of school premises and grounds.
• Respond to helpdesk jobs, unlock/lock buildings, and carry out porterage and room setups.
• Perform PPM tasks including fire alarm tests, emergency light checks, and support out-of-hours building use.
