Academics Ltd in Gillingham seeks a reliable School Caretaker for a full-time role managing site security, maintenance, and general premises duties. The position supports a welcoming school environment and requires DBS clearance or willingness to obtain one.

The role offers full-time hours (8:00am-4:00pm, Mon-Fri) on a temporary contract with potential for ongoing work, and a supportive Academics Ltd team to assist placement and ongoing assignments.

Location: Gillingham, Kent

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm

Contract: Temporary with potential for ongoing work

Academics Ltd are currently recruiting for a reliable and experienced School Caretaker to join a friendly and welcoming school in Gillingham.

This is a great opportunity for a hands‑on individual with previous caretaking, premises or facilities experience, looking for a full-time, Monday to Friday position.

Key Responsibilities

• Opening and securing the school site.
• Carrying out daily site inspections and security checks.
• Undertaking general maintenance and minor repairs.
• Ensuring the school buildings and grounds remain safe, clean and well maintained.
• Setting up rooms and areas for school activities and events.
• Liaising with contractors and reporting any maintenance issues.
• Monitoring health and safety across the site.
• Supporting with general premises and facilities duties.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Previous experience in caretaking, premises or facilities management.
• Good practical skills and general maintenance knowledge.
• A proactive, reliable and hands‑on approach.
• A good understanding of health and safety.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service OR be willing to pay for and obtain a new Enhanced DBS.
• A commitment to safeguarding and maintaining a safe environment for pupils and staff.
