GSL Education Kent seeks a dedicated Facilities Manager / Caretaker to join a SEN school in Ashford, Kent. The role focuses on maintaining a safe, secure, and well‑kept site, with responsibilities including opening and closing the premises and coordinating with contractors.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a facilities, caretaker, site manager, or maintenance role.
• Practical, organised, and able to work independently.
• Good understanding of health and safety procedures.
• Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle due to school's location.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willing to apply for one.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance, repairs, and basic DIY tasks across the school site
• Ensure buildings and grounds are safe, secure, clean, and well maintained
• Complete routine health and safety checks, reporting any issues promptly
• Liaise with external contractors and oversee maintenance work when required
• Support the opening and closing of the school premises each day
• Assist with setting up rooms and facilities for school activities and events

Salary: £93.33+ (depending on experience)

Contract: Full-time

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced individual who enjoys practical work, takes initiative, and is committed to ensuring the school site is safe, secure, and well‑maintained. Due to the school's rural location and limited public transport links, applicants must be drivers with access to their own vehicle.
