We're currently recruiting for a School Administrator to join a supportive and welcoming school on a short or long-term basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for an organised, professional and approachable administrator who enjoys working in a busy environment and wants to play an important role in supporting the smooth day-to-day running of a school.
You’ll be joining an inclusive and supportive school that places pupil wellbeing, community and high-quality education at the heart of everything they do. Working closely with teachers, school leaders, pupils, parents/carers and external professionals, you’ll be an important part of the wider school team.
This role would suit someone with previous administrative experience, particularly within a school, education, public sector, customer service or office environment. It could also be a great opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within education.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Providing efficient administrative support to the school office and wider staff team
- Acting as a welcoming and professional first point of contact for visitors, parents/carers and pupils
- Answering telephone calls, responding to enquiries and managing correspondence
- Maintaining accurate pupil, staff and school records
- Updating databases and school information systems
- Supporting attendance administration, including recording and following up pupil absences where required
- Preparing letters, reports, documents and communications for parents/carers and staff
- Supporting the organisation of meetings, appointments, events and school activities
- Managing incoming and outgoing post and general office correspondence
- Assisting with school finance, purchasing or invoicing processes where required
- Maintaining confidentiality when handling sensitive pupil, family and staff information
- Supporting safeguarding procedures and ensuring relevant information is recorded appropriately
- Working collaboratively with teachers, senior leaders and support staff to ensure the smooth running of the school
Requirements or Skills:
- Previous administrative or office-based experience is desirable
- Experience working within a school or education environment is beneficial but not essential
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Confident using Microsoft Office and general IT systems
- The ability to maintain accurate records and manage multiple tasks effectively
- A professional, friendly and approachable manner
- The ability to communicate confidently with pupils, parents/carers, staff and external professionals
- A calm and adaptable approach when working in a busy school environment
- The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately
- A strong understanding of the importance of safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team while also using initiative when required
