Hightown Housing Association is seeking a Scheme Manager in Broxbourne to oversee day-to-day scheme operations and contribute to safe, well-maintained surroundings for residents aged 55+. You will manage maintenance tasks and support residents to live independently.

Responsibilities

• Support residents’ wellbeing through daily welfare checks.
• Respond to emergency calls and coordinate support.
• Encourage social activities and build an inclusive community.
• Liaise with families, GPs and external agencies to support residents.
• Oversee communal areas and coordinate with contractors to maintain high standards.
• Carry out health and safety checks and ensure compliance.
• Maintain gardens, lawns and planted areas, including seasonal bedding.
• Weed, prune, hedge cut and care for lawns.
• Maintain and clear paths and communal outdoor areas.
• Maintain tools and equipment; keep outdoor areas safe and presentable.

Salary: £28,899 (37.5 hours)
Monday to Friday (suggested: 9am - 5:30pm)

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Scheme Manager is responsible for both the day-to-day management of the scheme and the maintenance and repair of the building, communal areas and gardens. The postholder will support residents aged 55+ to live independently, while ensuring the scheme is well maintained, safe and aesthetically appealing. A key part of the role includes regular maintenance of the communal gardens.

What you will be doing

• Supporting residents’ wellbeing through regular contact and day-to-day oversight, including daily welfare checks.
• Responding to emergency calls and coordinating support when needed
• Encouraging social activities and building a strong inclusive community spirit
• Liaising with families, GPs and external agencies to support residents
• Overseeing communal areas and working with contractors to maintain high standards
• Carrying out health & safety checks and ensuring compliance
• Maintain gardens, lawns and planted areas
• Carry out planting, including seasonal bedding
• Weeding, pruning, hedge cutting and lawn care
• Maintain and clear paths and communal outdoor areas
• Maintain tools and equipment
• Keep outdoor areas safe and presentable

Maintenance & Repairs

• Carry out minor repairs and maintenance
• Change lightbulbs, fuses and batteries
• Report repairs and to liaise with the Repairs Team and contractors.

• Generous Annual leave allowance of 25 days per year (excluding bank holidays), increasing by one day a year up to a maximum of 27 days subject to satisfactory performance.
• £28,899 salary per annum (37.5 hours)
