Job summary

National Grid is recruiting an SCADA & Control Lifecycle Engineer. This position can be based from our Warwick, Leeds, London, Bristol or Derby offices and offers a flexible hybrid working model.

You will help shape the future of SCADA, substation automation, protection and control systems across our transmission network, and contribute to engineering standards, asset strategies and roadmaps while aligning cyber security requirements in OT environments.

Qualifications

• A degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Control Systems or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience in electricity transmission, distribution, or critical infrastructure environments.
• Membership of, or working toward, a relevant professional institution.
• Experience in Protection and Control Engineering or SCADA, substation automation or OT environments.
• Understanding of engineering asset management and lifecycle principles.
• Strong analytical and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proactive learning and collaborative working approach.

Responsibilities

• Support lifecycle management of substation control and OT cyber assets.
• Contribute to SCADA, digital substation and network modernisation initiatives.
• Develop and maintain engineering standards, specifications and guidance documents.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, suppliers and industry partners to identify and assess new technologies and solutions.
• Support technical assurance and Type Registration activities for new and existing asset types.
• Contribute to the development of asset strategies and technology roadmaps.
• Analyse asset performance, risk and lifecycle information to support investment decisions.
• Support the delivery of cyber security requirements within OT environments.
• Provide technical advice and support to engineering, project and operational teams.
• Build strong relationships across the business and share knowledge with colleagues and stakeholders.

Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Control Systems or related discipline
