Job summary

Rubicon Recruitment Agency in Yeovil is seeking a Sawmill Machine Operator to handle timber machinery across the production line and ensure orders are completed accurately.

You will be trained across site machinery, with development opportunities within the department, and benefits including free on-site parking and an on-site canteen.

Qualifications

• Good standard of basic education, particularly maths.
• Fluent spoken English required.
• Forklift licence advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Select timber boards suited to each works order.
• Operate rip saws, bandsaws, the beam saw and moulders to fulfil orders accurately and safely.
• Maximise yield from every piece of timber processed.
• Record sawn and machined timber accurately on production paperwork and systems.
• Stack, band and label completed orders safely and presentably.
• Maintain a clean, organised work area.

You'll be trusted to work across a full range of sawmill machinery, from rip saws to moulders, with pay of up to £14.50 per hour reflecting that skill.

• Experience working in a timber sawmill or similar manufacturing environment, operating machinery (certificate, diploma or degree an advantage)
• Good standard of basic education, particularly maths
• Fluent spoken English
• Forklift licence advantageous
• Strong attention to detail with a logical, methodical approach to problem-solving
• Good time-management skills to meet production deadlines
