Job summary

Oliver Rae in Aldridge is seeking a Saw Operator to join a small, friendly manufacturing team. You will operate a bar saw, measure materials to customer specifications, and manage your own workload from start to finish in a clean, well-organised environment with free on-site parking.

You'll need experience in operating a band/ bar saw in a manufacturing setting, be confident with measuring tools such as Vernier calipers, and read engineering drawings.

Qualifications

• Experience reading measurements accurately and working to tight tolerances.

• Setting up and operating a bar saw.

• Cutting materials to customer specifications and engineering drawings.
• Feeding your own machine using an overhead crane and forklift truck.
• Banding, labeling, and preparing finished products for dispatch.
• Carrying out quality checks to ensure products meet specification.
• Keeping your work area clean, safe, and organised.
• Supporting the wider warehouse and production team when required.

Saw Operator

Location: Aldridge, Hours: Monday to Friday 06:00am - 15:00pm (08:00 - 17:00 whilst training), Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

We are recruiting for a Saw Operator to join a well-established manufacturing company based in Walsall.

The Role

This is a fast-paced, hands-on position where accuracy and efficiency are equally important. You'll be responsible for operating a bar saw, measuring and cutting materials to customer specifications, and managing your own workload from start to finish.

This is not a role for someone who likes to stand around waiting to be told what to do. We need someone who is proactive, takes pride in their work, and is happy to get involved in all aspects of the operation.

Your duties will include:

• Setting up and operating a bar saw.
• Measuring materials accurately using tapes, Vernier calipers, and other measuring equipment.
• Cutting materials to customer specifications and engineering drawings.
• Feeding your own machine using an overhead crane and forklift truck.
• Banding, labelling, and preparing finished products for dispatch.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience operating a band saw or bar saw within a manufacturing or steel environment.
• Confident using measuring equipment, including Vernier calipers.
• Experience reading measurements accurately and working to tight tolerances.
• An overhead crane licence is advantageous.
• A valid Counterbalance FLT licence is desirable.
• Someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes ownership of their work.
• A reliable team player with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
