Job summary

Next Generation is seeking a Band Saw Operator to join near Halesowen. You will set and operate Band Saws, move material with a Cab Crane, and assist with loading/unloading using a forklift while maintaining a safe working environment.

The role requires 3–5 years of relevant experience, ability to minimise waste, and adherence to health and safety procedures. Overtime may be involved with competitive hourly pay.

Responsibilities

• Operate bandsaw to cut materials
• Wrap/strap goods for pallet after sawing
• Load/unload vehicles using forklift or pendant crane
• Clean and tidy department; ensure materials stored safely
• Move material between departments using forklift
• Remove swarf and clean leaks/spills
• Mark sawn bars with internal numbers and return to stock
• Inspect and mark incoming material
• Work as a team with other operators
• Adhere to health and safety procedures
• Perform stock takes when required

Job description

Job Title: Band Saw Operator

Contract: Permanent

Working hours: Monday – Thursday (15.30pm – 12:00am)

Friday (12:00pm – 18:00pm)

Hourly rate: £17.28 per hour

Next Generation are currently recruiting for a Band Saw Operator to work with a global leading manufacturer based near Halesowen. As the Band Saw Operator you will be responsible for setting and operating Band Saws in a safe and effective manner whilst also being able to move material around the plant via a Cab Crane.

Duties of the Band Saw Operator:

• Operating bandsaw
• The heat shrink wrapping or banding of goods to pallet after sawing
• Loading and unloading of vehicles via forklift or pendant crane
• General cleaning, tidying and improvement of the state of the department
• Ensuring material is safely stored in stock
• Using forklift to deliver / collect material to / from other departments
• Removal of swarf from each saw every day and cleaning of any leaks/spills
• General cleaning, tidying and improvement of the state of the department
• Ensuring any sawn bars are marked with internal number and returned to stock
• Inspection and marking of incoming material
• Work as a team with saw other operators
• Work to assist other departments where possible
• Adhere to health and safety methods and procedures
• Perform stocktake of all material when required

The successful candidate for the Band Saw Operators position will have the following experience:

• 3 – 5 years’ experience working as a Band Saw Operator (Essential).
• Operating Cab Crane (Desirable)
• Ability to effectively measure material minimising material wastage (Essential)
• Carrying out daily machine checks (Desirable)
• Experience of cutting all varying grades of metals from carbon steels to super duplex materials (Desirable)
• Understanding & capability of fulfilling all manual handling requirement
