Job summary

Yorkshire Water is seeking an experienced SAP Business Analyst to join the IT SAP team and drive business change across Finance, HR, Procurement and Asset scopes.

You will lead analysis across multiple initiatives, translate needs into detailed requirements, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver measurable value. Hybrid working with future Leeds base, 37 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Business process background in HR/Payroll Finance, Procurement or Capital Delivery Asset Maintenance/Management.
• Some knowledge of SAP applications (S/4HANA, SuccessFactors, Concur, Ariba, BTP mobile).
• Strong customer service ethos and self-motivation.
• Ability to gather, evaluate and interpret information from multiple sources.

Responsibilities

• Lead Business Analysis across multiple change initiatives with high-quality requirements.
• Translate business needs into requirements including UI design and data models.
• Apply best practice Requirements Engineering with elicitation, analysis, validation and traceability.
• Gather business requirements using interviews, workshops, surveys and sessions.
• Produce AS-IS and TO-BE process models and perform gap analysis.
• Build relationships with stakeholders at all levels and ensure engagement.
• Facilitate User Acceptance Testing to ensure solutions meet requirements.
• Collaborate with project teams to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions.
• Support continuous improvement to enhance processes and systems.
• Ensure delivered solutions provide measurable business value.

Location: This role will initially be based in Bradford but we’re moving our office to Leeds Valley Park in summer 2026, so you’ll be based there in the future - Hybrid Working (1-2 days in the office a week – Bradford/Leeds

The SAP team is part of the IT function and plays a key role in optimising and transforming our SAP applications and associated Enterprise Systems. We support business areas such as Finance, HR, Procurement, Capital Delivery and Asset Maintenance/Management. Our team consists of functional and technical consultants, along with support related roles in Project Management, Business Analysis and Service Management, the SAP Business Analyst will play a key role in the SAP Business Analysis team driving business change and being a subject matter expert for business processes within this space.

Where you fit in:

As our SAP Business Analyst, you will:

• Lead Business Analysis activities across multiple change initiatives, delivering high-quality requirements specifications for our customers and within the SAP technology landscape.
• Translating business needs into specific requirements including UI design; Data models; Business process changes and Interface designs.
• Apply best practice Requirements Engineering techniques, ensuring effective elicitation, analysis, validation, documentation, and traceability of requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
• Gather and define business requirements using a range of elicitation methods, including stakeholder interviews, workshops, surveys, and collaborative sessions.
• Produce and maintain AS-IS and TO-BE business process models, conducting gap analysis to identify improvements and support transition planning.
• Build and manage strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels, ensuring effective communication and engagement throughout project delivery.
• Facilitate and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), ensuring solutions are thoroughly tested and meet agreed business requirements.
• Work closely with project teams to deliver effective, fit-for-purpose solutions that align with business objectives and drive positive change.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, systems, and ways of working.
• Ensure delivered solutions provide measurable business value and meet both operational and strategic requirements.

What skills & qualifications you will need:

• A business process background in at least one of the following areas:- HR and Payroll Finance, Procurement or Capital Delivery Enterprise Asset Maintenance/Management
• Someknowledge of SAP application technologies and how best to exploit their use for business benefit (e.g. S/4 Hana, SuccessFactors, Concur, Ariba, BTP mobile etc)
• Highly motivated and self-reliant with a personal drive for continuous development and able to demonstrate a strong customer service ethos, as well as a source of knowledge for others.
• Ability to collect, evaluate and interpret information from multiple sources to identify and differentiate real user needs.
• The ability to develop and maintain effective internal/external relationships atdifferentlevels within the organisation.
• Creativity and lateralthinkingDemonstrates strong organisational skills, creativity, and lateral thinking.
• Possess a strong sense of purpose and proactively seek responsibility and ownership.
• Experience using Microsoft Visio to bring processes and ideas to life through clear visual documentation.
• Experience within the water, wastewater or wider utilities sector would be advantageous.
• A recognised Business Analysis qualification (such as BCS Business Analysis or Lean Six Sigma) would be welcomed.
• Experience using Atlassian Confluence would be an advantage
• Strong analytical and reasoning abilities
• Previous experience using Azure DevOps and/or JIRA
