Sales Account Manager

Location: Berkeley Gloucestershire

Type: Full-time, office-based

We are pleased to partner with a leading distributor of high-quality flexible and specialist cables, cable management, identification, termination, fastenings, fixings, and tools for the electrical and construction industries.

The Role

This position is within an established organisation's Internal Sales team, seeking a dedicated individual eager to advance their sales career. The role requires proficiency in B2B sales, adept account management, and excellent customer service to meet departmental objectives and monthly financial targets. The focus is on cable accessory sales primarily within the wholesale market. The successful candidate will receive comprehensive product and technical training to excel in key account management and consultative technical sales. Performance will be evaluated based on exceeding sales targets, growing key accounts, and providing exceptional customer support. This is a supportive environment for learning and professional development within the industry, ideal for enthusiastic candidates looking to join a cohesive, goal-oriented team.

Main Duties
  1. Identify opportunities with new and existing customers, develop strategies to build long-term profitable sales, and recommend solutions.
  2. Build and maintain relationships with customers to establish yourself as their key account manager and grow these accounts.
  3. Respond to incoming inquiries via email and phone, ensuring quotes and orders are processed efficiently.
  4. Create a proactive daily outbound call plan.
  5. Listen to customer requirements, prepare detailed proposals, and present them effectively to close sales.
  6. Address and challenge objections to convert quotes into sales.
  7. Seek opportunities to grow the business by immersing yourself in the industry and collaborating with the sales leadership team.
  8. Advise customers on upcoming product developments and special promotions.
  9. Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer records in the company CRM.
  10. Represent the company at trade exhibitions and events as required.
  11. Stay motivated, manage workload proactively to achieve KPIs.
  12. Adhere to Company Quality Management and Health & Safety guidelines.
  13. Perform other tasks as assigned by senior management.
Candidate Profile
  • Minimum 3+ years of internal sales experience, preferably in B2B sales with a consultative and/or technical focus.
  • Experience in account management and business development.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all levels.
  • Ability to develop effective relationships with internal and external professionals.
  • Goal-oriented with a strong drive to exceed sales targets.
  • Proficient in IT and experienced with CRM systems.
  • Positive attitude, determination, resilience, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Experience selling electrical accessories or cables is advantageous.
  • Experience in wholesale or re-distribution markets is desirable.
  • Formal sales qualifications and training are a plus.
