Job summary

IKEA Gateshead is hiring Sales Assistants to join our welcoming team across Showroom and Market Hall. You will help customers find inspiration, keep areas attractive and well-stocked, and ensure the store always feels inviting.

You'll work 12 or 16 hour contracts, three days per week with some weekend shifts, between 09:00 and 22:00. The role offers flexibility and a starting hourly rate of £13.45 plus a range of employee benefits.

IKEA Gateshead are looking to welcome Sales Assistants to join our delightful and friendly team. We have multiple contracts available working across our Showroom and Market Hall departments, including Bedrooms, Cooking & Eating, Textiles, and Home Decoration. In these roles, you'll support customers by helping them find inspiration and solutions for their homes, maintain attractive and well-stocked areas, and ensure the store is always ready to welcome visitors. Depending on the department, this could involve sharing product knowledge, assisting customers with purchases, replenishing stock, creating inspiring room settings, and contributing to a positive shopping experience for every customer. Whether you're helping a customer design their dream bedroom, choose products for their kitchen and dining space, refresh their home with textiles, or find the perfect decorative touches, you'll play an important role in bringing the IKEA experience to life.

WHAT WE OFFER

• The Start Date of employment will be 27th of September 2026.


• Competitive hourly rate of £13.45 per hour.


• 12 & 16 hour contracts working 3/4 days per week including 3 weekends out of 4. Between the hours 09:00am - 22:00pm.

• You support maximising sales by ensuring your area of responsibility is clean, fully stocked, all products priced, well presented and easy to shop. Some products may involve heavy lifting.
