Teaching Personnel are currently working with secondary schools across Warrington to recruit ambitious graduates and career changers for a 2-year salaried teacher training programme, with opportunities to start ASAP or from November 2026.

If you're considering a career in teaching but want to gain real classroom experience before committing to formal teacher training, this programme offers an excellent route into the profession.

You’ll combine paid school-based experience, professional development and fully funded teacher training, following a structured pathway towards achieving your PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

During your first year, you’ll work as a Cover Supervisor within a secondary school in Warrington.

You’ll become part of the school community while developing your confidence, classroom management skills and understanding of working with secondary-aged pupils.

As a Cover Supervisor, your responsibilities may include:

  • Delivering lessons using work and resources provided by teaching staff
  • Supervising classes and maintaining a positive learning environment
  • Supporting pupils with their learning
  • Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies
  • Building positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Working alongside experienced teachers and support staff
  • Observing lessons and developing your understanding of effective teaching
  • Taking part in training and professional development opportunities

Your first year is designed to give you a strong foundation in school life and prepare you for the next stage of your journey towards becoming a qualified teacher.

Following a successful first year, you’ll progress into formal teacher training while continuing to develop your practical experience within a school environment.

You’ll work towards achieving:

  • PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

As your confidence and experience grow, you’ll gradually take on greater responsibility for planning and delivering lessons.

Throughout your training, you’ll receive ongoing support, mentoring and professional development to help you build your teaching practice and work towards becoming a confident, qualified teacher.
