Job summary

Dovetail & Slate Ltd in the West Midlands is seeking a Designated Safeguarding Lead (Temporary) to drive safeguarding across the organisation, ensuring learners feel safe, supported and listened to, and that concerns are recognised and acted on quickly.

You will work with staff, families and external agencies, lead multi-agency liaison, provide staff training, and supply pastoral support to vulnerable learners while supporting senior leaders with safeguarding reports and policy updates.

Qualifications

• Strong safeguarding experience in an education setting.
• Confident handling concerns, referrals, records, risk assessments and liaison with outside agencies.
• Experience supporting young people with SEND, SEMH, trauma or complex needs.
• Calm, organised and professional, with the credibility to guide staff on safeguarding and pastoral matters.
• Available to start on 19 October 2026.

Responsibilities

• Acting as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, managing concerns, referrals, child protection records and risk assessments.
• Leading multi-agency communication and working with external professionals to put joined-up plans in place.
• Training staff, offering day-to-day guidance and helping colleagues spot early warning signs.
• Providing pastoral support to learners who are vulnerable or struggling with behaviour, transition or emotional needs.
• Supporting senior leaders with safeguarding reports, policy updates and staff development.
